"Free Download, Free Picture Hosting, Free Templates, Free to use"
Auctonic runs on Mac, PC and Linux and supports all eBay sites
Quick Start
Once you have installed Auctonic you will need to obtain a token from eBay. You are directed to an eBay page where you need to give Auctonic permission to access your account via the API. When you enter your username and password this information is not passed onto Auctonic. After you have given your permission you need to click on the Obtain Token button again. This gets from eBay a string of characters which is in effect your authorisation for Auctonic. This token is only stored on your computer and is not transmitted to Auctonic.
The next step is to get all the information from eBay related to the site on which you will be listing. This information includes categories, item specifics, ship to location, shipping services and payment methods. There are a lot of item specifics so this part of the download process can take quite a few minutes. Please be patient during this process. It will all be worth it since using this information from eBay means that nothing is "hard coded" in Auctonic and so, if a new ship to location is added, categories change, or item specifics are added, then Auctonic can download the latest.
Creating a Listing
The first time you open the Create Listing screen you will be asked to enter your default preferences. These will be used with all your listings. Please pay particular attention to entering your PayPal email address and the Returns Options.
Auctonic is designed to allow you to create great looking listings as quickly as possible.
The steps involved in creating a listing are :
- Enter a title
- Choose a category
- Enter any item specifics
- Choose a condition for the item (as in New, Used)
- Choose an auction type (Auction, Buy It Now, Stores Fixed Price)
- Set the start price
- Set the shipping options
- Set ship to locations
- Set payment types
- Enter the text to be used in your listing
- Choose your pictures
- Choose a template
These steps are made much easier if you load an existing listing and then just modify it according to your needs. This means that you will keep your ship to locations, payment options and template selection. Most Auctonic users create a new listing in this way.
Auctonic also tries to help you with two of the most important factors in creating a listing that will achieve the best possible value.
- If you click on the Help button next to categories then you can enter keywords and these keywords are sent to eBay and you will be shown a list of categories including a percentage that indicates the frequency that the category uses those keywords. Selecting the right category is vital to ensuring that your item is visible to the highest number of potential purchasers.
- If you have already selected a category then you can click on the Help Button and get the most popular keywords in that category. It is often very interesting to see which keywords people have used to search in that category - you should then include relevant keywords in your auction title.
Entering your main text is achieved by using the build in editor. If you just enter text then that text will be formatted using the template's font and font color. You can override this by selecting a new font, font style or font color.
